Product description from producer
Outstanding Ukrainian women of the twentieth century often remain invisible. Some of the women in this book may be hearing about the fate of some of them for the first time, but their role in Ukrainian history should not be underestimated. These are doctors, teachers, participants in the national liberation movement, political prisoners, journalists, military women, cultural figures... Without them - strong, active, devoted - the pages of our family history would be completely different. This book contains interviews, testimonies, archival documents, and references about prominent women of Ukraine - materials from the Historical Truth resource. Among them are a unique interview with Kvitka Tsysyk, a conversation with women's movement researcher Marta Bohachevska-Homyak, and articles about Rosalia Lifshyts-Vynnychenko, MD, the underground activist Iryna Tymochka, aka "Christ," the writer Olena Teliha, and Lesya-Ukrainian, the mother of Heorhiy Gongadze. The collection is compiled by Vakhtang Kipiani, a Ukrainian journalist, historian, editor-in-chief of the online publication Istorychna Pravda, and compiler of The Case of Vasyl Stus.
