Product description from producer
J.D. Salinger was an American writer best known for his novel "The Catcher in the Rye" and his reclusive lifestyle. His last work was published in 1965, and he gave his last interview in 1980. Growing up in Manhattan, Salinger began writing stories in high school and had published a few of them in the early 1940s before being drafted into the army. He served two years on the front lines during World War II. During that period, he conceived the novel "The Catcher in the Rye," which quickly gained worldwide fame. The story of Holden Caulfield's coming-of-age, teenage angst, and rebellion was added to the list of the 100 best English-language novels by Time, Modern Library, and many other reader lists in 2005. The publication and distribution of the book were often attempted to be banned through legal actions due to its liberal use of profanity and descriptions of sexual encounters, which only heightened the desire of every teenager to get their hands on a copy of this book.
