Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) was an outstanding Austrian psychologist, psychiatrist and neurologist, the founder of psychoanalysis - a method based on the recognition of the existence of such mental processes as the conscious, unconscious and superconscious, i.e. not only processes controlled by man and is conscious, but also carried out unconsciously and beyond his control. The unconscious manifests itself in intuition, anticipation, creative inspiration, sudden guesses, dreams, hypnotic states, etc., in actions performed automatically, reflexively. This discovery led to a revolution in psychiatry and the treatment of neuroses. 

"The Interpretation of Dreams" (1900) was one of Freud's major works, which allowed the author to explain to the general public the essence of the concept of "subconscious", showing by examples how the subconscious manifests itself in people's everyday life.
