The famous Austrian writer Franz Kafka (1883-1924), author of the world-famous novels "The Castle" and "The Trial," is recognized as an innovator in twentieth-century prose.

"Letters to Milena" is addressed to Milena Jesenska, a Czech journalist and Kafka's favorite. Their romance began in the spring of 1920 and lasted only a few months, but correspondence continued until 1923. It was Milena Jesenski the writer gave his diaries and "Letter to my father", which later became famous and was also included in this edition. Kafka's fears, which Milena recognized, prevented them from being together. Not surprisingly, their paths diverged.

Kafka's letters reveal his loneliness, insecurity, and melancholy. He does not care that Milena is married. It even seems that the reason for the correspondence is not love for a woman with whom he has only seen twice in his life, but in the complete perplexity of those around him, and these letters - an attempt to open the soul, to find sympathy and know yourself.
