Zgurska M., Belochkina Y. Danilo Halytsky Book
Daniel Romanovich Galitsky is one of those bright historical figures, which is rich in the early Middle Ages. He lived in a turbulent, violent era of strife and Mongol-Tatar raids and went down in history as the collector of ancient Russian lands, the ruler of the principality of Galicia-Volhynia, a great reformer, a far-sighted politician and a cunning diplomat. Daniel of Galicia was the first legitimate king in the history of the Ukrainian people, that is, a king recognized in Europe. He was also the first Russian prince who tried to put an end to the dependence of his princedom on the Mongol-Tatar invaders. But the greatest merit of Galitsky is that he was a patriot of his land. The revival of interest in the history of Ukrainian statehood made the figure of Prince Daniil Romanovich interesting for our contemporaries as well.
