Product description from producer

The great romanticist Jack London (1876-1916), despite the fact that he suffered many disappointments, despite everything, believes in Man, the strength of his spirit and defiance of circumstances. The motto of his characters - never give up.

The novel The Star Rover was the writer's last great work, printed in his lifetime (1915). In St. Quentin State Prison, a former agrarian college teacher, Professor Darell Standing, is serving a life sentence. He is imprisoned for the jealous murder of a colleague.

Prison guards, punishing him for his disobedience, lace Darel with a tarpaulin "helljacket" each time, a type of prison torture that can cause a heart attack. Having learned to fall into a trance, while being tortured, Standing travels through worlds of his former lives, from prehistoric times to the early twentieth century. While awaiting execution, Darel Standing becomes the living embodiment of the principle that the strongest in man is his spirit, which remains even when the material body dies.

Folio Publishers has previously published "White Fang", "Hearts of Three", "Martin Eden", "A Daughter of the Snows" and "The Valley of the Moon " and "The Sea Wolf".
