Avocado (or alligator pear) - the name of the tree and the fruit of the same name. According to some reports avocados are cultivated from the third millennium BC. Homeland avocado - the jungles of South and Central America, from where it gradually spread to other continents. In Europe, the Spanish conquistadors brought the avocado. Currently, there are more than 400 varieties of avocados grown in most tropical and subtropical regions of our planet. On the shelves of our stores avocado often gets in an immature state. By touch it is steady and taste like green pear or pumpkin. You need time to get it red-ripe. The pulp of ripe fruit has a delicate texture, the taste reminding mixture of butter with mashed green, with a slight nutty flavor. Ripe avocados are widely used in cooking, they are added to salads, soups, sushi, cold snacks and sandwiches. Avocados are widespread in vegetarian dishes, which serves as a substitute for meat and eggs. And from overripe fruits get valuable oil, used not only in cooking but also in the cosmetic industry.
